To be sure you have a safe and enjoyable visit to the District, the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department offers the following helpful tips:



  
1.  Always be aware of your surroundings when traveling.
2.  Carry a fully-charged cell phone.
3.  Don't carry valuables or large amounts of cash.
4.  Never give money to panhandlers.
5.  Hide a spare key in your wallet or ourside your vehicle in case you lock 
     your keys in your car.
6.  Don't leave your keys in the ignition or leave your car running.
7.  Lock your doors and roll up your windows.
8.  Don't leave personal belongings in your car in plain view.
9.  Keep your hotel room key with you at all times, and close the door securely
      when you are not in your room.
10.  Don't invite strangers into your room.
11.  Be familiar with exit routes from your hotel in case of an emergency.
12.  If you see suspicious activity, notify the police at 615-862-8600.  For
      emercencies, as always, dial 911.
